Co-mingled Recyclables

The administrative buildings on campus co-mingle recyclables. Recyclable materials (listed above) are mixed with trash and placed in the same container. All waste is co-mingled in the green dumpsters and is then sorted through at the Material Recovery Facility on Butler Ave.
Co-mingling is possible due to the high ratio of recyclables to trash produced in the administrative buildings.

Material Flow

Recyclables (green dumpsters) are picked up from NAU and are taken by the City of Flagstaff to the Materials Recovery Facility where they are sorted out. Trash is sent to the landfill and recyclables are sent off for further processing.
Trash from NAU (brown dumpsters) is picked up from campus and sent straight to the landfill.
